What customers should you listen to

You should probably listen to all your customers. This does not mean you have to do it. The real question is how can you capitalize on feedback and make it productive?

Seth Godin wrote in his post “Ignore Your Critics” that you should not listen to your critics or your fans. You should listen to the customers that talk about you the most.

If you listen to your critics and conform, they’ll stop writing about you. You should ignore your fans b/c they already love you, and don’t want you to change.

At a minimum, this narrows down the field. My question is, how do you get people that like you and your company to talk about you? I find that incentives usually only work mildly. Please tell me if I’m wrong. I’ll take any ideas.
